Project Description

Millenium Library

Recreational

About the Project

The Millennium Project was a major redevelopment of Winnipeg’s Central Library which included adding 40,000 square feet of new space and a fourth floor and renovations throughout the existing 110,000 square feet of the library. We implemented sustainable design concepts for responsible energy management.

The finished library features a new Reading Terrace with a 4-storey high solar glass wall, two panoramic glass elevators and a grand staircase that faces the existing urban park directly south of the Library.

This project was a winner of multiple prestigious awards including: o Invitational Design Competition June (2002) o Canadian Architect Award of Excellence (2004) o Prairie Design Award of Merit (2006) o The Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia Medal of Excellence in Architecture (2007) o The Governor General’s Medal in Architecture (2008)
